THE SEASONS OF SANTA TERESA
Although we don’t experience the classic four seasons, there are some changes to the weather and pace throughout the year. As we all know, weather can be unpredictable, and unfortunately we haven’t found a particularly reliable weather forecast for this area. This guide is our take on the seasons of Santa Teresa — what to expect and when to visit, depending on what you’re looking for.
December-April
This is our summer. And it is really summering. In general there is no rain during this time - you will wake up to clear blue skies every day. The air temperature is steady at around 30°C and the water is nice and warm. This is also the high season of Santa Teresa so there are more people and the prices are higher. When it comes to surfing - this is a great time for beginner surfers. The waves are typically small and clean, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.
Our tip: This is the time to come if you want consistent sun, a bustling town and cute little waves
May-August and November
We call this season Green Season and once you visit it will be obvious why - the nature is LUSH! With the first rains in May everything comes back to life. The temperature is still around 30°C but we will typically have sunny mornings and then rain in the afternoon/evening. The days are longer, the crowds are smaller and the prices are lower. The waves however, are usually bigger and more powerful, making this a more popular time to visit for experienced surfers.
Our tip: Personally, this is my favorite time of the year. The nature is stunning, the pace is slower and the sunsets are spectacular!
September-October
This is the time of the year we experience most rain. The nature is at its peak, the crowds are gone and the prices are more affordable. The temperature is still the same and even though it can rain a lot, there are always days of sunshine too. Since there are more storms this time of the year, the waves are also bigger and the water is rougher.
Our tip: This time is great if you are planning a longer escape and want to get into a nice daily routine and get a sense of what living in Santa Teresa could be like
